Post 150ish DPS Spike Necro Build

Why hello there. After looking at Vampiric Spirit, I thought that it would probably work great with Dark Aura. So, I slapped those two skills on my skillbar, put on Dark Pact and Arcane Echo, and some other assorted skills. I quite like the results.

Necromancer/Mesmer
Level: 20

Soul Reaping: 3
Blood Magic: 16 (12+4)
Death Magic: 15 (12+3)

- Dark Pact (Blood Magic)
Sacrifice 10% Health and deal 51 shadow damage to target foe.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:2

- Arcane Echo (Mesmer other)
If you cast a Spell in the next 20 seconds, Arcane Echo is replaced with that Spell for 20 seconds. Arcane Echo ends prematurely if you use a non-Spell skill.
Energy:15 Cast:2 Recharge:30

- Vampiric Spirit [Elite] (Blood Magic)
For 21 seconds, your Spells cost 3 more Energy, but whenever you cats a Spell you steal up to 53 Health from one nearby foe.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:5

- Dark Aura (Death Magic)
For 30 seconds, whenever target ally sacrifices Health, Dark Aura deals 50 shadow damage to adjacent foes, and you lose 20 Health.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:10

- Consume Corpse (Death Magic)
Exploit a random target. You teleport to that corpse's location and gain 100 Health and 20 Energy.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:0

- Blood Renewal (Blood Magic)
Sacrifice 25% max Health. For 10 seconds, you gain +6 Health regeneration. When Blood Renewal ends, you gain 200 Health.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:10

- Unholy Feast (Blood Magic)
Steal 69 Health from up to 4 foes in the area.
Energy:15 Cast:0.75 Recharge:20

- Resurrection Signet ()
Resurrect target party member. That party member is returned to life with 100% Health and 25% Energy. You may use this Signet only once per mission.
Energy:0 Cast:3 Recharge:0

Frankly, Arcane Echo can probably just be replaced with something else, although that would drop this build down to 75ish DPS.

Alright, as far as your typical battle goes in an arena, first use Dark Aura. Afterwords, use Vampiric Spirit and then Arcane Echo. Use Blood Renewal if you feel you need it, and run up to someone. Spam Dark Pact on that person, and they should drop dead in about 4 seconds. Use Consume Corpse, and Unholy Feast as needed, and repeat.

This build does 154 damage each time you cast Dark Pact on someone, and because of the two superior runes and Vampiric Spirit, you don't actually lose too much health from Dark Pact spam, and Consume Corpse takes care of health problems and energy problems slightly.

As of now, I use a Rune of Superior Vigor, but you might just be able to drop that.

Also, all damage ignores armor, and the damage is considered to be separate, showing multiple numbers on the screen, meaning it generally goes through Protective Spirit. Additionally, the damage from Vampiric Spirit can wipe out any 55 monk easily enough. Thusly, this spike build works on ANYONE.

This build does in fact have energy problems. Currently, I have swapped out Unholy Feast for Channeling, and taken out 1 point in Death Magic and 1 point in Soul Reaping to put into Inspiration. Energy problems are not as present.

I would imagine that in GvG, TA, or HA, you could easily get a battery necro on the team and solve the energy problems even further.

Assuming they don't run.

Questions? Comments? Suggestions?

In response to traversc:

I am able to put out more damage with Dark Pact spam than Jaundiced Gaze spam, and in the long run it costs less energy. Sadly, it does not work too well.
And I figured it's best to be deceptive with the title. Hehe.

In response to Niosisw, Melissa, and holden:

It is not actually too hard to get people close to you, especially in RA. I have found that I could generally damage people faster than monks can heal, meaning warriors and assassins are viable targets. This build provides more damage without as much health sac as Touch of Agony+Wallow's Bite+Dark Aura, because of Vampiric Spirit. There is no difference in range either, only you will not auto-follow people when you use Dark Pact. Yes, that means this build requires manually moving up to people.

In response to DeanBB:

Nope, skills such as Touch of Agony do not trigger Channeling or Vampiric Spirit.

nice!

comments:

Jaundiced gaze <- archane echo. Although it's more expensive, it does slightly more damage, steals, and doesn't have the problem of running out/recasting archane echo.
Also, you can cast jaundiced almost 4 times before it starts to cost more than a.echo/dark pact.

Also,
It's not quite 150 dps, you have to consider aftercast. In actuality, it's more like 90~ dps. Still nice!

I'm confused

Vampiric Spirit steals from people close to you... so.........

You won't always be stealing health.

Some of you skills have to be in PB range, but the one you cast for teh dps doesnt? WHAT?

meh... saccing with dark aura is old news...
vampiric spirit is the addition to the build but it wont work for spiking because its not from the closest foe but from ONE NEARBY foe which means its random. also you are wrong. shadow damage does NOT go through prot spirit but because the damage done per portion is less than 55 it shouldnt be stopped by prot spirit... not a good spike per say because you have to be adjacent. because you have to be adjacent i would use touch of agony and wallow's bite over dark pact.

Do Touch of Agony and Wallow's Bite trigger Channeling, since they are classified as skills instead of spells? I'm guessing not.

Touch of Agony
Skill. Sacrifice 10% max Health. Target touched foe takes 61 shadow damage.

Hmmm, same for Vampiric Spirit:

Elite Enchantment Spell. For 21 seconds, your Spells cost 3 more Energy, but whenever you cast a Spell you steal up to 53 Health from one nearby foe.

vamp spirit is not an addition to a dark aura build since it only triggers on spells not skills. deanBB is right.

but melissa's right the wallow's bite is a better choice to a dark aura build. spamming wallow's bite/touch of agony with aura of the lich and dark aura up is nasty.

AoL
dark aura
wallows bite
ToA
blood renewal
consume corpse

death at 16, blood at 13. this build is a noob exploiter.

Since DA doesn't require any elite to make it worthwhile I think using VSpirit is a good choice. However, I still think using Glyph or Renewal and Unholy Feast is the ultimate damage dealer. Max your Blood, put Awaken on, GoR Unholy Feast and it's ownage. That is about 150 damage to all targets in the area around you that cannot be anyhow prevented. You know I made a team build for GvG with GoR/Echo UF. We used to have loads of fun with it. Like we would drop dead a whole team in seconds. Not the most balanced of things, mind you, but definitely the funnest thing I've done in GvG.
